Re: why i'm waiting for the Powers and Kabuki trades
Jul 28, 2004 5:43 pm

Hey guys,
Thanks for the kind words, and glad to hear that you made so many new Kabuki fans!

This story will be at least 8 issues, but could end up being as long as 10 or 12.
They always tend to go a little longer than my initial scripts and outlines, cause in the process I tend to expand some roles of characters and add some new scenes. I always start with a pretty refined script but I also let the process take me where it wants to go. Always room for improvement at every step.

Every other Kabuki story I've done ended up being twice as long as I originally thought it would be. So I'm this could be somewhere around 10.

Re: RangerChic...I read KABUKI: The Alchemy last night.

Thanks, all you!

Don't forget to find me in Chicago and say hello!
I'll have lots of cool stuff to show you.
It looks like I will be in the artists alley.

Put the f*cking lotion in the basket

Did you all see Bendis' drawing of Kabuki in the new #1 ish?
Jul 30, 2004 4:01 am

What did you think?

And my little history lesson on some of our background. Did you know that Powers' Zora was in that 1993 cardset with Kabuki?

I'm going to put more of those 1993 Kabuki drawings in the back of each of the next few issues of Kabuki [The Alchemy]! Special Bendis art page!

Kabuki Metamorphosis tpb near sold out, order now if
Jul 30, 2004 4:13 am

Just a heads up,
I saw the inventory of the Vol 5 KABUKI Metamorphosis paperback today. Out of its 20,000 first print run, it is down to the last couple hundred copies.

I do intend to print more when it runs out, but not exactly sure when and other details. So if you've been planning on getting it, best to order now rather than be caught when it is out of stock.

I just ordered a bunch myself to make sure I'm covered.

Respect!

Did your store have it?

I've heard a lot of people's stores being sold out of the Kabuki issue before they can get it.
Did this happen to anyone here?

Where to find me at Wizard World Chicago...
Jul 30, 2004 4:47 am

I usually have a booth at the Image, but just found out they aren't going to have any extra booth spaces besides one Image central promo booth.

So I managed to get a table in Artist Alley. Andy Lee will have a table beside me. And Anh Tran will have her Tranimals table there as well.
So please look for all three of us together in Artist Alley.

If I get the booth # ahead of time I will keep you updated.
I saw on my board some people had trouble finding me in San Diego.

I'll be in Chicago all 3 days all day. Will have original art, Kabuki, Daredevil, Echo, Alias covers, Scarab. And a large selection of 11x17 prints. All the Kabuki trades and hardcovers.

Will also have the Siamese bust set, Kabuki bust sculpture, Snapdragon bust, Kabuki aciton figures, Kabuki mask, Mini mask sets.

If there is something you want to make sure I have there please let me know ahead of time.

Make sure to stop by my booth and let me know you are from this board. I'll try to give you something free

And I'll be happy to sign all the books you bring. If they are mine

Ha! Thanks Cote!

As far as artword goes, the black/white pages start at $100, can range up to $500, the painted pages, start at $500 range up, and the covers generally start at $1500 and range up. Most Alias covers are $1500, but I still have a couple Alias covers at $800 or $1200.

And all the art is priced on the back.

The prints are $10 each, or 2 for $15. They make great gifts

Most of the b/w pages are Kabuki: Circle of Blood, Scarab, and some Skin Deep. Most of the painted pages are Daredevil- WAKE UP, and Daredevil-ECHO. Most of the covers are ALIAS and a RUULE.

Anh should get it out asap.
Just in time for your new room

Re: Possible avatar for David Mack.. BENDIS, MAKE WITH A CL

Yeah, I should use the POWERS Detective David Mack art!

That's a pretty good idea!

Too bad I don't know step one of how to do it.

Maybe post what you think is the best Det DM pic from Powers for me to use.

Bendis and I both were super impressed with Oeming's DM drawings!

As for the other drawing, there is actual photo reference of it. I remember that Playmate Susie Owens and I were acting out scenes and modeling for Bendis as he took photos. Some might be printed. Definitely something from it in my Reflections sketchbooks. I think Bendis might have sent me the actual photos of it not too long ago.

You can post the ones from the reflections books.

Question for Mack: Any plans for other variant covers by other artists? I would again, buy both covers.

Thanks RangerChic,
No real plans for any other variant covers by other artists. But since you suggested it, I'm open to considering it.

Who would you like to see? Anyone else have feelings about this?

Adam Hughes is going to be doing a piece of Kabuki art, I could use that for a varient cover for a future issue. Would readers here like to see an Adam Hughes Kabuki cover?

I'm sorry so many readers seem to have missed it at the comic shop because they had sold out.

I hope everyone who has the first issue will please aske thier retailer to order enought of the next issue which is in the current Marvel catalogue.

Hey Denny,
Thanks for the info. Glad your retailer is reordering.
I did print a bit extra for re-orders.
If everyone's retailer re-orders Kabuki #1 right now, they can still order more copies of each cover.

The overprint copies won't last forever, but you can definitely re-order right now!

If your retailer is out of both or either of the covers of Kabuki #1, just ask them to re-order more for you. They will be sent their entire re-order if they order immediately before the supply is out.

See you there!

Re: Where to find me at Wizard World Chicago...
Jul 30, 2004 10:28 pm

I'm sorry,
That hardcover is still the only Kabuki collection out of stockk.
I have all the other hardcovers and all six paperback collections as usual.

We may make more hardcovers of volume 1 the next time we have to go back to press with the vol 1 paperback, and do them all together. They are too expensive to make on thier own as a re-order item.
But I'll keep you updated!

Re: favorite Paul Pope story
Jul 31, 2004 4:18 am

I guess my favorite Paul Pope story, is the night he, and I and Andy Lee and a bunch of our pals went bowling and mayhemming. We bowled on "style points" or what really meant who could get the most laughter from everyone else while delivering the ball. My secret weapon to this was...

Not that kind of story?

I just saw him at Heroes con last month. I saw the pages of his new project! I can't say what it is but it looked supercool.
