Re: HEY MACK!!
Jun 06, 2004 3:24 am

Hey Guys.
I wasn't pitching the project. It is a very high profile project that Marvel specifically asked me to write.

There were several artists that they suggested, and discussed. And with Middleton leaving NYX, it looked like he would be free to do this, and that it was something he was interested in. We had several long creative dicussions about it on the phone, and at one point it looked like editorial had approved him as the artist.

I can't speak for Josh or for editorial on what they discussed.
I'll keep you updated when I am at liberty to discuss more about it, the artist, title, and release.
It is a BIG roller coaster of a story!

Best,
DM

Hey Cote,
Sorry to hear about your dog.
What was your dog's name?

We're here for you.

Thanks, but no chance of me drawing it.
All my art will be committed to the new Kabuki series for the foreseeable future.
The Marvel project is fun to write, but I'm not the right person to draw it.
I think you'll see what I mean when it comes out.

Anyway, I'm having a blast drawing the new Kabuki series.

Re: HEY MACK!!

Kabuki is definitely Bi-monthly.

I'm more ahead now than I have ever been when starting a Kabuki series.
So I could have released it monthly for a few issues, but it would have caught up with me after a while, cause it takes me a full 2 months to do each issue.
I've always released Kabuki bi-montly before, so I figured it be wiser to continue it bi-monthly so I could maintain being ahead, rather than squander that cushion of time that I now have.

Kabuki news and a big thanks to you on this board!

The first wave of advance orders from retailers for the new Kabuki series are in...

And the orders are much better than expected!

This is because you as readers have asked your retailers to order the new Kabuki series ahead of time.

Retallers have told me that the word of mouth demand for the new Kabuki series, and the exceptional demand for all of the Kabuki trades are the reason they keep Kabuki in stock and are ordering the new series.

I want to give all of you a big THANK YOU for taking the initiative to try Kabuki. The new series, and the trades. And a big THANK YOU for personally taking the initiative to ask your comic store to order it for you.

Your personal request for the Kabuki is what keeps the book alive and available in stores.

So thank you to my long time Kabuki readers, and thank you to the brand new readers who are picking up the collections or are just beginning with this new Kabuki series. Please let me know what you think of the trades and the new series as you read it
Kindest regards,
David Mack

Thanks,
Preordering from your retailer really does make all the difference between the book making it to the store and getting a chance for readers to find it, or not getting that chance.
I really appreciate it.

See you there, Dave.
Thanks for doing the pre-order. You can always check in with your store to make sure. Bendis says they still have 10 days to add to their order.

Yeah, the bookstores have been really good about carrying the Kabuki collections. I'd like to see the comic stores as well stocked on them.
