Thoughts on Daredevil #500 |
From David Mack: |
I just picked up this issue at Forbidden Planet in NYC yesterday. I was pretty happy with how my painting printed and the look of the entire book and all the pinups. It looks like a really nice book. Thanks for the kind words!
I should have more words about End Of Days soon. We were all discussing it today: me, Brian, Bill, Klaus and the editors. Trying to work out the schedule, etc.
As soon as I have concrete news on it, I'll let you know. It is an absolute pleasure working with these folks. And Alex Maleev has made some incredible painted covers for it as well.
By the way, a feature I really enjoyed in the DD #500 was the gallery of all the covers. That was very cool to see all the eras of DD and the amazing runs of covers by the different artists past and contemporary. I was really happy to be a part of this issue. And I love that Maleev Dardevil pinup in it as well.
Was really happy to see Quesada's pinup, and it was cool that Brian had his first ever Marvel art work published in this issue! |

David Mack Shares Thoughts on Jack Kirby
From the Mid-Ohio-Con's blog: |
David Mack: Jack Kirby created and co-created some of the most enduring comic book characters, and he opened up people's minds about what could be accomplished in the format of a comic book. The landscape of today’s most popular comic book heroes (and now some of the largest films) is a world that is populated with the very characters that Jack created or co-created. He had a very distinct and personal approach that set the stage for tales in book and film format for the following century. The leaps that he made in storytelling format are a lot of the basic storytelling grammar that we still use and build on today. |
