Kabuki plays are almost entirely about ghosts... The dramaís form, nearly invariable, has the ghost disguises as human in the first half of the play, the latter half being devoted to its recognition and subsequent exorcism.

New Avengers #39 Reviews
During his review of New Avengers #39, Chili Pepper Chrisís Comic Cave noted the issue includes: "David Mackís kickass art. Very enjoyable! Grade: A." Also, the hosts of Pulp Secret praised David Mack's artwork, discussed story points and agreed that viewers should pick up the issue. Finally, IGN.com gave the issue an 8.8 out of 10 rating and reviewer Bryan Joel noted:
Let me get this out of the way: don't expect New Avengers by way of Kabuki here -- there's hardly any trace of Mack's signature painted, layered style in issue #39. It's all firmly in the superhero comic tradition. It's absolutely solid stuff, no doubt, with some of Mack's trademark quirky panel progression and detailed touches. The fight itself looks great. But it's not what some may be expecting from a book bearing David Mack's name.

MC Chris Spotlights New Avengers #39
Musician MC Chris noted on his MySpace page that one of his shirts appeared in New Avengers #39.

Mack Mentioned in Convention Survival Guide Article
From Zap2It.com:
Bring a bag: I prefer the book bag variety. I tend to buy a goodly amount of trade paperbacks at these shows, as well as rare individual issues. If I had to juggle a dozen shopping bags or carry all the items in my hands, I would likely drop and damage books or lose the circulation to my fingertips. Instead, I turn myself into a nerd-sherpa, carrying Alex Ross's Mythology, The Art of Joseph Michael Linsner and the entire David Mack run on Daredevil on my back! This leaves my hands free to carry any statues or toys I might buy. Or to push smaller nerds out of my way.
