David Mack Shares Background |
|
From David Mack: |
|
I don't have a drawl because neither of my parents are from KY. My mom is from PA and my dad from NY. My dad went to college in Cincinnati, Ohio, where I was born, which is right across the river from Northern KY. And my mother got her Master's degree there and found teaching jobs in the northern most tip of KY when she was starting as a teacher.
So I grew up in Northern KY on the river bank from Cinci. I didn't know people in KY had a drawl or that some people considered it south until I traveled through central KY when I was 18 and heard the people talk differently there. And they seemed to identify themselves as Southern in the lower parts of the state. |
Eisner Submission Process |
|
After McAfee noted that David Mack and Kabuki should have been included on the list of 2006 Eisner nominations, Mr. Mack wrote: |

Thanks for thinking of me.
I didn't hear anything about the deadline for submitting stuff, so I never submitted books to them. I think they used to send something in the mail about it, and an e-mail or something. I remember wondering when I would hear about it and thinking I'd send Kabuki: The Alchemy #4 or #5 to be considered for the best painter/multimedia category.
With a creator-owned book like mine, I guess I have to send it in myself in order for anyone to consider it for this.
Too bad. There are only 4 books included in the best painter category, unlike the other categories that had 5 or 6. It would have been nice to be considered for it.
Anyway, nice of you to mention it. |
