Peter Dixon and his staff at the Toronto Comicon and Paradise Comics decided to do something more than just put on a great comic book convention. They wanted to do some good for their community, too.
With that in mind, they lined up their convention's biggest name guest, Ultimate Spider-Man writer Brian Michael Bendis, and headed for a Toronto landmark, The Hospital for Sick Children, on the Friday morning before last weekend's show.
...
Little glowing faces listened intently as Brian read book after book, never losing his enthusiasm for the kids in his audience. After each book, the children would excitedly critique Alex [Perkins]'s drawings, and make new requests. Even more astonishing was how interested the children were about the process of writing and drawing comic books. |
