I feel like I’m seeing the world for the first time. Everything is beautiful all at once. From so many angles. Suddenly I understand Cubism.

Home Production Notes Self-Portrait

David Mack (January 20, 2005):
Darediva wrote: Did you ever publish that little 8 or 10 page story you had on the wall at your gallery show? The one about your childhood?
You'll see that sequence appear in a published format very soon.
It's a surprise!
:)

And it is just sort of a little peek at an entire story of that. That will be my next creator-owned project after the current Kabuki story. The full autobiographical story.

David Mack (May 8, 2004):
What did I do? Well, I did another auto-biographical story that was printed in an anthology in '96. I reprinted it in the KABUKI Dreams collection (Kabuki: Vol. 2). So if you like the Self-Portrait thing, it is along those lines. You know, me talking about bits of my childhood and parents and stuff.

The rest of the Self Portrait thing will be my next project after the next couple years of KABUKI stuff. (It even sort of ties into the current Kabuki story in a strange way... You'll see.)

David Mack (February 15, 2004):
I'm doing the new Kabuki series now, which will probably go for more than 6 issues. Maybe even 8 or more. And then this autobiographical SELF PORTRAIT story will be my next art project right after the current Kabuki story.

I'm very Psyched about it. It is a very natural and spontaneous way for me to work.

And that entire issue of Edge is very cool.

David Mack (August 10, 2002):
I just finished a black and white story that will appear in TALES FROM THE EDGE in November. It's an 8 page story that previews a little chapter from my SELF PORTRAIT book to be released later next year.
