I heal animals. Animals heal humans. Through pets, people learn to respect and care for another living creature. Then they can apply that to other people and living things in general.

David Mack's Father in Hospital
From David Mack:
My dad got hit by a truck...

He was on foot, and it hit him from behind in a parking lot. Ran over his leg and broke his leg bones in several places.

I've been at the hospital for the past few days, and will go back tomorrow.

He had surgery to try to put the bones back together with screws and pins and wire and a metal bar.

From the X-ray, the surgeon did a really good job at making all the tiny pieces resemble the shape of a bone again. But still some spaces in between the bone pieces and they had to remove some of it.

They say he has to lay in bed for 2 months. They project him to leave from the hospital this coming week to go to a rehab center for the next couple of months, so it can heal, and then for him to try to learn to walk again.

He's in pain, and concerned about a lot of stuff.

So if any of you say prayers, please add him to the list.

Fade From Grace Collection Due Wednesday
According to the finalized shipping list at DiamondComics.com, the Fade From Grade trade paperback, which will feature an article written by David Mack, will be on sale Wednesday, November 23 at a comic book store near you.

Also, Beckett Comics President and series artist Jeff Amano recently posted the following description of the project to his message board.

People who know me know how special this book is to me personally. First and primary is that it's a story inspired by my wife, Claire.

When I was running the operations of Beckett Publications - I was the one making the deals, making the speeches, going to the big meetings and trips - but it was Claire's brains, intuition and innovation that was the substance that fueled it all. When I was getting truckloads of fanmail and autograph requests for my anime magazine covers - it was really Claire's genius behind the whole enterprise that literally saved Beckett during a dire time in the sports card marketplace.

Even though I was getting the accolades, CLAIRE was the real star. She was the real super-hero. Then it dawned on me - what if we did a story about a super-hero who received all the fame and glory, but the real "superhero" was his wife because the real 'superpower" is love? What if we could show that while "power wanes and fame is fleeting - love never fades"?

I shared my story idea and outline with Gabe Benson who was working for Cinergi at the time. He really "got it" from the start, wanted to script it and the rest is history. He helmed an amazing job and I am so thankful that I brought him on board - if for nothing else what he has done with FADE FROM GRACE (which is also his title idea by the way. My original idea "FADE" could not be used for trademark reasons and my alternate "FADE FOREVER" just didn't gel right for either of us)!

Originally, I wasn't going to do the art. You have to remember that this was a time when we were starting up Beckett Entertainment - we were dealing with the T3 license, still weaning away from Beckett Publications, etc., etc. Suffice to say, I only had time to do the concept art (most of which are included in the TPB) until Gabe insisted that I do the art.

One more thing. FADE represented a new style for me as well as comics, so each issue was a learning curve that I really didn't get a hang of until around the end of the second issue. As a result, I redid art on some 30+ pages and added 4 bonus story pages to flow better in a graphic novel format.

The TPB also features an article on "The Art of Fade" by David Mack with a commentary by Mike Avon Oeming as well as a cover gallery. (136pp, $14.99)

I hope you check it out!
