Comic Book Tattoo Production Update |
From David Mack: |
I finished my story in this right before I left for New York. I'm really happy to be a part of this book. The story I did is "Flying Dutchman." It has the title lyric in the song, Comic Book Tattoo, and I tried to work that into the story in a unique visual way.
That song was also written by Tori about Rantz here. At least inspired by him and Tori as they worked to make their artistic dreams come true in some formative years. |
New Ending in Kabuki: The Alchemy Hardcover |
From David Mack: |
I should mention (I don't remember if I mentioned this when the issue #9 hit stores) that the issue originally had a different ending. It had an extra little scene at the end. Fully painted, lettered, all finished. But there was so much stuff in this issue to absorb, as you mention in your post here, that I felt the scene at the end overwhelmed that a bit, and I didn't think it worked in the individual issue because it gives you quite an extra twist to think about as well.
But I think that last scene works as a whole with all the stories together, so I plan to put it back in the story when it is collected in the new hardcover. |

David Mack Mentioned in Singapore Newspaper |
From The Electric Paper in Singapore: |
Terry Moore's epic Strangers In Paradise and Neil Gaiman's work have always attracted a large female following (as proven by the crowds Gaiman caused here in 2004).
Other artists can only wonder what David Mack's character Kabuki has that causes those long queues of women at his signings. |
