Weird as it is, for some reason I figured he wasn't reading, yet in today's Bad Signal [from Warren Ellis]: "Because, yeah, Brubaker and Phillips are producing super-accessible literary-mainstream fiction, but the boy Mack is still shooting off vivid conceptual fireworks every time he does a Kabuki. So there's a broad spectrum available there, and that kind of makes me want to be a bit experimental..." |

In Portland, two different sales ladies at two different bookstores began conversations with me about these different topics.
The first one informed me that she "coined the term 'contrived juvenilia'" for a style of art.
The second one referenced Ayn Rand.
It was a real hoot and "contrived fill-in-the-blank" became our buzz phrase for the week.
I really like Portland. I seem to attract a certain kind of "literary-talk" from people there :) |

In his latest email newsletter, Mike Oeming announced that he was nominated for an Eagle Award in the category of Favourite Comics Writer/Artist for his work on The Cross Bronx. Also, he noted that TV.com is polling people about Them, a TV pilot based on Six, and that he was interviewed by The Marvel Gazette. |
