Comma Splices and Run-On Sentences |
While talking about his vices, David Mack posted: |
When talking verbally, I tend to enjoy using comma splices, and run-on sentences, and I mean I really enjoy it (even when I know I should not), and I know I'm doing it (but I just like doing it), and I think comma splices are nice (if done right), even thought they are technically not grammatically preferable (academically that is), but some people smoke, so I think I should be allowed my comma splices.
Also (in these situations) I enjoy using parenthesis (like this) to continue the sentence (and meaning) but also interject a kind of parallel extra meaning (or tangents) inside the story (or sentence) to cover several other bases as well (thus building the sentence sideways as well as linear) and I think it breaks more ground (and delivers more meaning) and lets me talk in several directions at once (or twice) while still having a structure (and organization) to the ideas (and thoughts). |
