San Diego Comic Con 2005 Fan Feedback |
 |
Writer and artist Alex Sheikman has kindly shared his story about meeting David Mack at the San Diego Comic Con: |
 |
I attended this year's convention because I am promoting a comic book that I wrote and illustrated titled Robotika. I have printed a number of ashcan editions and I was hoping to hand the copies to creators whose work I admire and enjoy.
Mr. Mack's run on Daredevil is one of my favorites and the trade paperback of Masks of the Noh is something that I read when I need inspiration. Because of that, I very much wanted to give a copy of the Robotika ashcan to Mr. Mack.
Even though he was surrounded by a constant crowd of fans, Mr. Mack took the time to look through the ashcan and gave me some very kind feedback about the work. I thought he would enjoy Robotika because of its samurai storyline.
When Mr. Mack found out that Masks of the Noh is my favorite Kabuki series, he "traded" (!!!) for the ashcan for Kabuki Agents and Kabuki ½! How cool is that?! I got to meet Mr. Mack AND I discovered a cool new storyline!
It was a great experience and I am very appreciative of that.
Thank you,
Alex Sheikman

Robotika, which is a four-issue bimonthly series that is slated to debut in December from Archaia Studios Press, has been described by publisher Mark Smylie as "a 'steampunk sushi samurai western' about loyalty, honor, and revenge; set in a world populated by silent samurai, fast-talking geisha, deadly mecha-based betsushikime, digital djihits, morphing butterflies, and corporate corruption." |
