Because Brian Michael Bendis was not able to attend the Eisner award ceremony at the 2002 San Diego Comic Con, David Mack gave the following acceptance speech for Mr. Bendis, who received a Best Writer award for his work on Powers, Alias, Daredevil and Ultimate Spider-Man: "Brian asked me to thank all of the artists that made him look good. Myself, Mike Oeming, Michael Gaydos, Mark Bagley and Mike Oeming for Powers. He also wanted to thank all of the editors at Marvel who let him do his thing: Joe Quesada, Ralph Machio, Nanci Dakesian and Stuart Moore. And also the people at Image, including Jim Valentino, who gave him the opportunity to do Powers. So, on behalf of him, thank you very much.
