Cincinnati, OH - PAC Gallery is pleased to announce an intimate and introspective look at local artist and New York Times best-selling Graphic Novelist, David Mack. PAC Gallery presents DREAM LOGIC, which features the multimedia works of Mack, whose talent for multifaceted visual narrative is internationally known, operates seamlessly from intimate portraiture, figurative work, dynamic storytelling, and boundless visual beauty in a variety of media from paint to sculpture to graphic novels and children's books.
David Mack is the creator, author and artist of KABUKI, published by Marvel Comics auteur imprint: ICON. These Japanese-influenced infusions combine social commentary, political intrigue, and an imaginative future, laced together with an elegant handling of beauty, philosophy and inherent sexuality. Mack is also the writer and artist of Daredevil from Marvel Comics, bringing his unmistakably genuine style to re-invent a classic character.
This collection of new and critically-acclaimed works show Mack's seemingly endless capacity for innovative storytelling, brilliant reinvention of classic Japanese style, a charming mix of whimsical and analytical work in a dazzling array of media.
PAC Gallery's walls will be filled with originals from the award winning Daredevil series, published by Marvel Comics. Also included are mixed media drawings featured in the most recent installment, Kabuki. Some hail this as Mack's most evolved work and represents his greatest achievements in graphic novel art form. In this ongoing series, Mack integrates a wide array of styles, visual themes, and media. In conjunction with the drawings, the exhibit will include 3-D productions based on the Kabuki books, e.g. statues, masks & Kabuki action figures. Each chapter has a different approach, and each page is represented as an individual work of art. This can be appreciated in the gallery page by page, so the viewer will experience truly walking through the story, being surrounded by it and reading it at their own pace. Much of this story is about imagination and the blueprint for creating ideas and fulfilling life's dream.
In the Small Gallery, Mack will make available his children's book, The Shy Creatures, and his first children's story, My Invisible Friend. Also, it will have other handmade artist books that Mack has created as well as published work pertaining to Kabuki, a 320-page art book of Mack's work, and smaller sketch book publications that tie together the works in the show. There will be limited edition hardcover volumes that have an original brush and ink drawing bound to the front of the book and Mack's art books with special editions of Kabuki: The Alchemy, and alongside his published work will stand life-size figures of sculptures that he has made.
Laslty, there will be a section that showcases the collective documentary film of Mack's work: The Alchemy of Art.
Mack has received numerous acclaims for his past and current works including recognition for his works in countless forms of media:
Fight Club author Chuck Palahniuk says: "Mack's style takes narrative to the art gallery level...genius."
