Artist of 2004 at ComicSkins.com |
Fletcher Adams of ComicSkins.com recently selected David Mack as the best artist of 2004 during the site's Comfy Chair Awards and noted: |
Mack has been an under-appreciated talent for years, recently gathering a fair measure of fame for a run on Marvel’s Daredevil. 2004 was a banner year for both Mack and his creator owned property, Kabuki. Along with Brian Bendis’s Powers, Mack’s Kabuki became one of the flagship titles of Marvel’s imprint for creator owned titles, Icon. With the Marvel marketing machine behind him, Mack can now reach legions of new fans with his innovative mixed media style. Each issue of Kabuki not only provides an enjoyable read, but an entertaining viewing experience with his innovate page layout and design. Equal parts sequential storytelling and collage, Mack blurs the lines between pop art comics and high art. |
Kabuki: The Alchemy #5 Cover Details |
When asked if the cover for Kabuki: The Alchemy #5 will include the quotes from Mark Millar, Jim Steranko and Entertainment Weekly, David Mack stated: |
...the image with the quotes is a reduced version of the cover with space at the bottom for the solicitation text. And it has some blurbs that I hope will be helpful to retailers when ordering the book from the Marvel catalogue. It will have a description of #5 below it and also list #1-4 as still available to order. The larger image without the quotes is the format and proportion for the cover. Though it will have the Kabuki logo and Icon logo. But I don't plan for the Kabuki logo to be overlapping the image as it is in the solicitation ad. |
