While examining the nominees in the category of Favorite Painter on the 2004 Wizard Fan Awards ballot, two reviewers at noted:
Alex Miller: David Mack. Mackís Kabuki is so far in front of anything else in this category itís not even funny.
Marc Lombardi: Did Alex Ross not do anything in 2004? Ribic blew my mind with the cover he did for NYC Mech, and his stuff on Loki was pretty amazing. But with Ross not on any major projects, I think this deserves to go to one of the nicest guys in the industry: David Mack.
