I’ve always said that a cube has 8 sides. 6 surface sides, the inside, and the outside. You must look beyond the surface to appreciate the other dimensions.

Re: Scarab
THU, 5/15/03, 6:43 a.m.. - In Response To: Scarab (tobie)

Hi! I just wanted to say I AM VERY GRATEFUL to have discovered David Mack's Kabuki when I was out window shopping on afternoon. I heard about Kabuki in the past by at that time, I was very much more interested in superheroes. Good thing I discovered there's much more out there worth reading!

Currenly, all I have is Skin Deep and Scarab. I've ordered the first two tpbs (even if they'll cost me a LOT of money) since the comic is really worth it! I can't wait to read them when they arrive.

THANK YOU, David, for making a comic book that crosses both intellectual and cultural lines!

Thanks Tobie,

For reading my books and for posting on our message board here.
I'm glad you liked the books you've read so far.

Please make sure to read Kabuki: Metamorphosis. It is volume five (comes right in between Skin Deep and Scarab- and makes both of them make more sense) and it is my favorite of all the Kabuki stories so far.

Let me know what you think about the next Kabuki story you read.
Kindest regards,
David

Congratulations!

Yay! Thanks for the photos.

And I notices you're even wearing a Kabuki shirt!
Best,
David

Re: translation?
THU, 5/15/03, 6:52 a.m.. - In Response To: translation? (MartyW)
I'd like to know which Kabuki stories have been translated into other languages. Becuase what will happen with the foreign readers want to read something like "Metamorphosis" which uses english in the art.

just something that occured to me, move along now.

Marty

They translate those parts too. They do a Great job of it. The French and German translations in particuar did a great job at translating all the painted Kabuki books even with the handwritten words and the Akemi lettering. I'm sure Kabuki is the most complicated book they have had to translate but they did it very well, keeping the spirit of my handwritten words on the art.

Hi everyone.

Just a quick word to say that I bought a copy of the second French TPB. A great book! I hadn't read it yet but Just the two EXCLUSIVE lithos in it and the entire packaging are worth the buying!!! [:)]

Hope you got a copy, or that you will have one soon, Mr MACK! By the way, when will you come back? I have a book for you to sign... [;)]

respectfully and friendly

Thanks! I'm looking forward to recieving my copies of this new translation. I think this one includes Dreams, Skin Deep, and Masks of the Noh,

I'm guessing I will be in Paris and Angoulem in January, I will post it here as soon as I find out!

David
