Comics are a subversive medium capable of great communication and cultural influence. The format affords an individual to voice a singular vision on an international scale under the radar of big business interest and federal regulation.

Thank you, Mayr!

It did indeed bring a smile to my face

I noticed it was one of those candid photos from Toronto

Great interview!

Great outtakes!

I'm back from Wondercon in SF, thanks to those of you I met
Feb 24, 2005 10:06 am

It was fun!
Thanks for stopping by my table to say hello!

San Francisco was fantastic. I spent a couple of extra days there and went to the SFMOMA to see the amazing modern art collection. And the new Lichtenstein exhibit.

Thanks to the guy at the art museum who I went to buy tickets from!
He recognized me from the convention and gave me tickets at no charge!

Also thanks to Mark and Christopher who checked me into my hotel.
It was a surpise that they were fans of my work and upgraded me to a great room with an incredible view of the city!

I thanked them by dropping off a stack of signed books for them.

I love all my Bay area fans! You are super people and made my time there a delight!

And Kat Amano, you are super sweet! Thanks for letting me be a guest in your apartment those last couple of days! And for the great maps you drew for me
I had a great time with you and your dad and Mandy and Andy Lee hanging out together.

And I talked to a lot of great comic shop retailers there. Lee's comics, Atlantis Fantasy fair, Comic Relief, Comic Box, Golden Apple, all stopped by to say hello.
If you go to any of these shops, please give them my thanks and regards.

But I've been to Belgium three times!

It was fun.
I signed at Comic Zone in Brussels and stayed ad Cedric and Ilian's guest house.

Good to hear you had some fun over there!

But nothing can prepare you for Bristol!

I am quite scared myself...

I'm not sure what this means...

Is there something you should tell me?

Hey Cote, I just read "Generation Kill" the journalistic account of the lead recon division that went into Iraq.
Have you read it or heard of it? I wonder how it is regarded in the military.
I read that too.

I apologize for being rude in your dream.
I'll be nicer next time.

I'm not rude.
I'm nice.

F*ck off.

Thanks a lot.

Just wait until the next dream you have of me.
It's going to be a goodie.

MACK is a d*ck. And Jesus is dead. FYI.
It's true. I have no control over my rudeness. I apologize for all the mean things I've said to people at conventions.

I think it is better for everyone if I just don't leave my house anymore.
I'm finding it increasingly difficult to live with the havoc of rudeness that I leave in my wake at conventions and in peoples dreams.

From now on I'm only going to be in women's dreams. No more of this guy's dreams stuff.

Horribly enough, my dreams aren't about Mack being a dick, but they do are about Mack and dick.... So, then there's that.

MACK! - I miss Walpole comics. Please tell (NohTV) Ron I said hi! He was the best purveyor of geek Books I ever had and he used to pimp your books like they were on crack...

Ron was the best.
I think you can still contact him at NohTV.
And he posts sometimes on the Kabuki messageboard.

Ron and Kriss are super sweet.

He's still helping folks now, though. I talked to him on the phone last year and we was working at a hospital.
And I believe Kriss still works at the library.
So they are still doing God's work!

I really enjoyed all his impact in comics though!

Goodnight, Johnboy.

Just a thanks to you on the board again...
Feb 25, 2005 1:07 pm

This is a hilarious board!
And good to see so many positive people.

I mentioned a few months ago how I was going through some unexpected "family type" changes in my life.
And how this board is really good at cheering me up when life gets strange.

I've been asked not to publicly discuss the details or situation, and I decided to remain friends, and stay on good terms so I won't, but I'm pretty sure most of you figured it out at the time.
And I appreciate the regards of goodwill.

Just sayin.

And it was good to see so many of you at Wondercon in SF!
It was a nice change of pace to get out of town and have fun with friends.

Looking forward to seeing many of you at Wiz LA and the upcoming conventions this year.

Andy Lee at Megacon today/this weekend
Feb 25, 2005 1:26 pm

I had the funniest conversation with him on the phone today as he was preparing for the drive.
He was trying to set up a drawing board in the fron seat so he could draw while he drove.
Everything he said made me laugh out loud.

He will be there to draw anything you want.

I'll try to be back to Megacon next year.

In the meantime, tell Oeming and Andy Lee that I say hello!

Re: Columbus area peeps-My art in a gallery opening this wee
Feb 25, 2005 1:29 pm

Oh yeah,
It's FREE to the public.

And at the reception this Sunday there will be food and stuff.

If you can't make it Sunday, it will still be open to the public until April 10.

Re: i laughed my ass off at powers

This guy, Mr Prime I'll call him, came to my table at San Diego in 97.

He was just looking through my books and asking questions. And I complimented him on his outfit.

He said thanks very matter of factly, like he didn't think anything of it.

I remembering that I wondered if he wore that outfit every day.

I had an artist friend like that who would wear a clown suit EVERY single day of his adult life until he died.
