The General...sits there, brooding intently, watching the women re-enact ancient masterpieces. As if each graceful move of an arm or flutter of satin inspires him, elevates him, to plot tactical strategies of similar eloquence.

This is to DT who posts as davidmackguide.com on this board.

I spoke with the gallery director who I worked with on that big show last October, and he said he will send me a disk with all the photos he took from the show.
He said also the lecture stuff, workshops, video, etc.

I'll send a copy of this disk to you as soon as I get it, so you can put it on davidmackguide.com if you so desire.

Also I'll try to get some more photos to send and RangerChic when I get the chance.

Kabuki #2 this Week!

There is a teacher at NKU, Prof Andrew Miller, who does a course in Literature every year that uses Kabuki as required reading.

This year they are doing Metamorphosis. The first time it was Circle of Blood.
This is the Prof that arranged for Neil Gaiman and I to each do a lecture at the University.

For a workshop I taught there last year, he presented an essay that he did on Kabuki. Do you have that on the site?
If not, and if you want it, I can send it to you.

And just for further info, I spoke at a hight school early this year that also read Metamorphosis for the Literature class.

And I did an interview for a publication that should be out soon about an academic or educational perspective on comic book artists. I'll find the name and info on this new publication. Some other writers and artists are in it as well.

I'm planning on being in Dallas. Not 100% yet, but I'll keep the board updated and know by next month.

I have all the books at my con appearances. I'll be happy to sign everything for you and throw in some prints or sketchbooks or something as well

The commencement speech was last year.

This year an English literature class from the same high school taught by Gary McCormick studied KABUKI Metamorphosis. I visited the class to discuss it with them.

I do suggest the re-reading!

For you and Jabsen! Especially if you have to wait to get Alchemy #2.

I think there is more things that you will see in repeat readings.

Glad you dig the shirt!

I also recomend the black tee that also comes in the girl style. It has the Dragon tat on the back and says Kabuki on the front in little type.
Take a look at davidmackguide.com news from today to see a shot of it on someone from the front.

Sep 28, 2004 12:03 pm

I'd like to get an idea of all the readers on this board that read Kabuki or will be starting to read Kabuki with this current series and continiuing to pick up issue #2.

I know some on this board are more vocal than others. I'd like to get the complete sound off, even from all you lurkers

Feel welcome to add anything else if you want.
Kabuki #2 in stores Wednesday!

Thanks!
David

And if you haven't seen it yet, or are new to Kabuki and want info, check out this brand new site called davidmackguid.com. It is updated every day.

Yes, Jaime Daez is the person who invited me.
I just corresponded with him via e-mail.

I'm answering some questions for an interview in his next Fully Booked newsletter.

Hopefully I can visit Manila next year and do the signing at Fully Booked.

Thanks for posting about it on the Kabuki board! And for posting the photo of you in the Kabuki shirt. Is that pic on a thread on this board too?

Re: Kabuki #2 this week. Who's getting it?
Sep 30, 2004 12:58 pm

Goodman has a letter in this issue also.
Hmm. Does having your letter in the book make people buy multiple copies?
Do you give it to friends and family to show the published letter? Or stash it away for posterity?
I'd try to put everyone's letter in there, if it would inspire them to buy multiples

Lets try it with next issue.
Everyone is welcome to send, e-mail or just plain post letters here for inlcusion in the next collumn

Thanks!
I clipped it for future letter collumn use!

Please let me know what you think when you do.

The trades will give you an entirely new appreciation of the current series.

Re: Kabuki #2 this week. Who's getting it?
Sep 30, 2004 1:11 pm

Hey by the way, I just want to make sure that everyone's new Kabuki issue has a dog on page one.

I got a box of Kabuki #2 and 90% were fine. But a few copies were misprinted with pages out of order and double printed.
I called Marvel, but they think it was just the few misprinted copies in my shipment and not in the regular batch.

So, I'm sure everyone's copies are good, but if the dog is not on page one, please let me know so I can confirm things with the printer.

Thanks,
DM
